Football Game vs. Seventy-First HS

This Friday night the Cape Fear Colts football team will take on the Falcons of Seventy-First HS. The Colts look to remain undefeated on the season and we are very excited to support them!

Date: Friday, October 4, 2024

Location: Cape Fear High School

Schedule:

  • 6:00 PM-Arrive at Cape Fear High School and begin getting into FULL UNIFORM.

    • Students will need to wear their band shorts, Cape Fear Band shirt (required), and long black socks under their uniform. Please, DO NOT FORGET LONG BLACK SOCKS!​

    • Students need their marching band shoes.

    • Guard will be wearing their show uniforms. This is a reminder that all hair and make-up will be worn as designated by our instructional staff. There is a signed contract in place between students/parents and band director.

  • 6:30 PM-Warm-ups in auditorium.

  • 7:20 PM-Pre-Game Begins

  • 7:30 PM-Kick-off!

    • Students will be fed by the band boosters at halftime. We ask that students avoid colored drinks (PowerAde, etc.) and condiments on their food as we do not want to get the uniforms dirty. A Google Form will be sent out to students to select their food choice.​

  • 10:00 PM-Game Ends, march back to the band room and get changed. Dismissal!​​

Competition at Clinton HS

It's finally here! Competition season is upon us! This is one of the main tasks that we have been working towards all season! Since we started in June, these weekends in October and November are what we have been prepping for.

 

Our first competition of the season takes us over to Clinton HS. Below, is the schedule for the events that day.

11:00 AM-Practice at Cape Fear HS for Practice on Football Field

  • All students must wear a white t-shirt and shorts. Students will not be allowed to wear their hoodies or jackets during this time as we look for uniformity.

1:30 PM-Practice Ends

  • After practice is over, all students will load their equipment on the trailer and will be fed in the band lobby area.

  • Showers will be opened for any student who would like to shower. For those new to Cape Fear High School, after our Saturday rehearsals we open up the showers in the locker rooms. Students are allowed to shower up before we leave. This is not required but can be recommended after a long morning of sweating at practice. You would need to bring your own toiletries, towel, and shower shoes.

2:40 PM-Depart Cape Fear High School

3:20 PM-Arrive at Clinton HS

3:35 PM-Dress into uniforms

4:35-5:20 PM-Warm-up

5:40 PM-Performance!

  • I am aware that the Homecoming Dance is on Saturday from 7-10 PM. As promised, when we are done performing students are allowed to leave with an adult/guardian. This is what needs to happen prior:

    • Thursday, October 3, 2024-Last day to turn in any notes requesting to pick up a student after performance on Saturday. I will not accept notes on Friday or Saturday. Please be prompt with your decision making for this event.​

  • Students are allowed to ride with another person's parent if a note is obtained.

  • Students are not allowed to ride with a boyfriend, girlfriend, or high school friend.

  • Students must be physically released by Mr. Jorgensen to parents/guardians/adults. I will be at the tractor trailer after our performance.

  • Students who are leaving early will be responsible for having another student take care of putting up their equipment. If it is left out, a student will receive a 50 for their competition grade.

7:30 PM-Awards Ceremony!

  • Once we have performed, students are allowed to walk around the stadium, purchase goods, food, etc. Please bring money for this!

  • All students must be in the stands (visitor side) seated together at 6:50 PM to watch Clinton High School perform. 

  • After our performance students may only wear one of the following items of clothing:

    • Band wind suit.​

    • Band hoodie (ones that have CF Band on them)

    • Show shirt

  • Once the awards ceremony is over, students will remain in the stands and we will move together to the buses.

9:30 PM-Arrive at Cape Fear HS and unload ALL equipment.​​​

Bands of America

Our biggest performance of the year takes place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Coastal Carolina University. The Cape Fear Marching Colts will be traveling to Conway, SC for our Bands of America Regional performance. Below is the anticipated schedule for the day.

A couple of notes about the event:

  • This will NOT be an overnight trip. We were able to make it a weekend trip last year because of the grant we received. This year, we did not receive as much money on that grant and had to cut this expense.

  • We will still take the students to Broadway at the Beach after our performance and preliminary awards are over. They will need money to buy dinner from Broadway. They will be allowed to souvenir shop as well!

​

Schedule:

7:15 AM-Report to Cape Fear High School. Students will load their instruments and all equipment on the bottom of the charter bus. Flutes and clarinets will have theirs on the bus. Students will get dressed into their uniforms here at the school. Students do not have to wear jackets, gauntlets, or shakos on the bus. They are however responsible for keeping them.

8:00 AM-Load and depart Cape Fear High School.

​

10:00 AM-Arrival at Coastal Carolina University. Mr. Jorgensen will sign the group in and we will unload off the bus. All instruments and equipment, full uniform, etc. must be taken care of at this point in time.

​

11:30 AM-Move to the warm-up area.

​

11:50 AM-12:35 PM-Warm-up in Area A.

​

11:55 AM-12:25 AM-Pit Warm-up time.

​

12:35 PM-Pit Report Time.

​

12:50 PM-Band Report Time.

​

1:00 PM-Performance Time.

  • After our performance, we will go over to take a group photo. Once the photo is taken, we will report back to the bus to load our equipment. Students may get out of their uniform at this point in time. They are allowed to wear only the following:

    • Cape Fear Band windsuit.​

    • Cape Fear Band hoodie.

    • Cape Fear Band show shirt.

    • Cape Fear Band Friday night shirt.​​

​

*Students will be given sandwiches, snacks, and a water at the bus when we get done.

​

2:00 PM-Report back to the stadium to watch the remaining bands. Cape Fear will all sit together and attendance will be taken. Students will be allowed to use the restroom and buy memorabilia from BOA.

​

2:45 PM-Awards ceremony.

​

3:30 PM-Depart Coastal Carolina for Broadway at the Beach.

​

4:00-8:00 PM-Time at Broadway at the Beach. No additional time will be given. Students need to eat dinner at Broadway. Students will sign up for groups ahead of the event. All groups must have all members at all times. A chaperone will check in with each group every hour.

8:00 PM-Depart Broadway at the Beach.

​

10:00 PM-ETA to arrive at Cape Fear HS. Students will unload everything and be dismissed.

Competition at South Columbus HS

On Saturday, October 26, the Cape Fear Marching Colts will travel to Tabor City, NC to compete in the Stallion Classic at South Columbus High School. We are nearing the end of the competition season and it has been a blast thus far! Please see the following schedule below:

10:00 AM-All students arrive on campus and begin moving all equipment to the football field.

10:30 AM-Practice begins.

12:45 PM-Practice ends, eat lunch, shower (if wanted; not mandatory), load equipment and the trailer.

1:30 PM-Meet in the auditorium.

1:45 PM-Depart Cape Fear High School

3:30 PM-Arrive at South Columbus High School

3:50 PM-Dress into uniforms.

4:35 PM-Warm Up

5:25 PM-Transit

5:30 PM-Staging

5:40 PM-Performance

8:30 PM-Awards

9:45 PM-Depart South Columbus

11:30 PM-Arrive at Cape Fear High School, unload the trailer, put equipment away, dismissal!

Students should bring some snacks for the bus ride prior to us arriving at South Columbus. They will be fed here, but it's a while between when they are fed and after we get done performing. Students should also bring money for concessions after we get done performing.

​

If a student is leaving from the competition with a parent, they are responsible for making sure that another student puts their equipment away when we return. You are also responsible for providing Mr. Jorgensen with a physical note requesting that your student leave with you. Mr. Jorgensen must physically release your student to you at the end of the night.

Raffle Ticket Fundrasier

On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, we started our raffle ticket fundraiser. The Cape Fear Band Boosters will be raffling off $1,000 cash on November 1, 2024, at our last home football game. 

​

Tickets are $5.00 a piece and students have all been given packs of ten to sell. Each time a students sells 20 tickets, their name will be put into a hat with the rest of their class for a drawing for $100 cash. Any students who reaches the 200 ticket plateau will get to pie a staff member of their choosing in the face on our last practice night.

​

Please get out and sell these tickets to help raise money for our program! All tickets and money are to be turned in on October 31, 2024.
